$930M liquidated after US strikes on Iran

US military action inside Iran sent shockwaves through crypto markets. Bitcoin dropped below $73K, Ethereum fell under $2,000, and 166,130 trader accounts were wiped out, 93% of them long positions. The single largest blow was a $15.34M Bitcoin long on Hyperliquid. To make it worse, spot Bitcoin ETFs bled $733M in a single day, with BlackRock's IBIT alone accounting for $527M of that.

Bankless co-founder David Hoffman sells his ETH

One of Ethereum's most recognizable advocates sold his ETH holdings, not as a bearish call on the network, but as a reassessment of how value flows through it. Hoffman says the "ETH is Money" thesis played out, but didn't deliver the major price rerating many expected. His argument: Ethereum's layer-2 shift and $160B+ in stablecoins have turned ETH into infrastructure rather than monetary asset. He still calls himself "massively bullish Ethereum", just not on the token itself.

Sui goes dark for nearly six hours

Sui's mainnet stalled for 5 hours and 55 minutes after a crash bug in the gas charging logic slipped through in the 1.72 software release. Transactions froze, SUI's price dropped 5–6% to around $0.90, and the network is now promising a full incident report. This isn't the first time, a similar outage happened in January, and another crash loop hit in November 2024. Despite ranking 13th by total value locked with $542M, reliability keeps coming up as the network's weak spot.

Researchers: treat AI agents as untrusted systems

A new paper from cybersecurity researchers argues that AI agents should never be trusted at the model level, they need hard system-level controls, like how operating systems restrict app permissions. The paper references real incidents, including a $500K loss from the Volo Protocol exploit and an AI trading assistant called Bankr that had to shut down transactions after unauthorized wallet access. With Circle's CEO predicting billions of AI agents conducting economic transactions in five years, the researchers say the security gap needs closing now.
